Steve Cooper talks with comic Jackie Martling. Jackie known as The Joke Man. He released three self-produced comedy lp’s, 1979’s What Did You Expect?, 1980’s Goin’ Ape!, and 1981’s Normal People Are People You Don’t Know That Well on his own label, OHR Records. In 1982, after founding Governor’s Comedy Shop in Levittown on Long Island and touring as a national headliner, on a suggestion from a Washington DC comedy club owner, he blindly sent his three LP’s to Howard Stern upon Howard’s arrival at WNBC-AM in New York City. Howard called him to make a guest appearance on his radio show. In 1986, he became a full-time cast member and the head writer of Stern’s show, and as they say, the rest is history. Remarkable radio as well as show business history. Jackie left the Stern show in 2001 after fifteen-year run as head writer of the radio show, four television series, and three Pay-Per-Views. He’s released six dirty joke CD’s … The Joke Man, Sgt. Pecker, Hot Dogs & Donuts, Come Again?!, F. jackie, and snart, as well as three videos, five joke books and countless joke gadgets of all kinds, for children as well as adults. He just recently released his autobiography The Joke Man: Bow to Stern.

Steve Cooper talks with singer/songwriter Willie Nile.  Willie became a popular fixture in the Village’s folk clubs in the late 70's, while drawing equal inspiration from the emerging downtown punk scene. He won a deal with Arista Records, which released his first two albums, Willie Nile and Golden Down, to considerable acclaim in 1980 and 1981 respectively. The list of avowed his fans also includes Bono, Lou Reed, Paul Simon, Ian Hunter, Graham Parker, Jim Jarmusch, Adam Duritz, Little Steven and Lucinda Williams. He recently his eleventh studio album, Positively Bob: Willie Nile Sings Bob Dylan, a heartfelt, personally charged set of Dylan covers that honors its subject while exemplifying the same qualities that have distinguished his work since the beginning.

Steve Cooper talks with tattoo artist Freddy Negrete. Freddy is known as one of the fathers of the Chicano style black and gray fineline tattooing. A Southern California resident, he got into tattooing at an early age while incarcerated. He ended up working alongside Jack Rudy (best known for inventing the single needle for the professional tattoo gun) at Good Time Charlie's. He has worked on feature films and has been consulted on a number of projects about tattoo culture and his autobiography Smile Now, Cry Later: Guns, Gangs and Tattoos-My Life in Black and Gray was recently released.

Steve Cooper talks with comedian/designer/entrepreneur/actress/philanthropist/author Rhonda Shear. Rhonda is best known as being the host of USA's weekend show Up All Night. Steve Cooper talks with drummer Mike Portnoy. Mike is one of the founding members of the group Dream Theatre and currently part of the supergroups Sons of Apollo and The Winery Dogs. Steve Cooper talks with TV writer/producer/director/major league baseball announcer Ken Levine. Ken is an Emmy winner whose career has spanned over 30 years. He has worked on the shows including M*A*S*H, Cheers, Frasier, The Simpsons, WIngs, Everybody Loves Raymond, Becker and Dharma & Greg and has co-created three series. He and his partner wrote the feature Volunteers. He has also been the radio/TV play-by-play voice of the Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariners, Sand Diego Padres and Dodger Talk. Steve Cooper talks with musician Howard Jones. Howard was one of the defining figures of mid-'80s synth pop. His music merged the technology-intensive sound of new wave with the cheery optimism of hippies and late-'60s pop. He racked up a string of hits in the mid- and late '80s before he retreated into being a cult figure in the '90s.  He released his first single, New Song, in England in the fall of 1983 and it became a big hit, peaking at number three. His second single, What Is Love, was released a few months later and it reached number two and his debut album was released in the spring of 1984 and quickly rose to number one in England. In 1985 he released Dream Into Action. The record became his most successful, reaching number ten and going platinum in the U.S. spawning the hit singles Things Can Only Get Better, Like to Get to Know You Well, Life in One Day and Look Mama. In the spring of 1986, he released Action Replay an EP of remixes that featured a new version of No One Is to Blame which became his biggest U.S. hit, peaking at number four. In 1989 his single Everlasting Love became a number one adult contemporary hit in America, reaching number 13 pop. Since then he has continued to release new music and constantly tours, whether it be his solo show or as part of the Retro Futura Tour.

Steve Cooper talks with musician Tom Keifer. Tom is best known for being the front man for the rock band Cinderella. Cinderella emerged in the mid-1980s with a series of multi-platinum albums and hit singles that videos received heavy MTV rotation.  The band has sold 15 million records worldwide. Steve Cooper talks with music personality, TV host, and video deejay Matt Pinfield. Matt is best known for his years working at MTV and VH1.  In 1984, he became a radio DJ on the Jersey Shore rock alternative station WHTG-FM and was the main DJ at the innovative Melody Bar in New Brunswick, NJ. In 1995, he began his television career hosting MTV’s 120 Minutes. Within a year, he hosted a variety of MTV shows including MattRock, Pinfield Suite, Pinfield Presents, Rocks Off and MTV Live and he has also hosted over 100 MTV specials. His music knowledge was showcased on TRL's Stump Matt and in 1999 he joined Universal Television to host and co-write a live television show about music called farmclub.com. In 2001, he became Vice President of A & R and Artist Development for Columbia Records and in 2006 he returned to VH1. He later took over the morning drive slot for WRXP in New York City and a similar position on KFOG in San Francisco. Steve Cooper talks with guitarist Doug Aldrich. Doug started playing professionally in Los Angeles with the band Lion in 1986. Steve Cooper talks with actor/singer/director Don Most. Don is probably best known for his co-starring role as Ralph in the long running television series Happy Days. Recently, he was seen in a recurring role on the hit TV show Glee, as well as starring roles in the indie film  The Yankles and Chez Upshaw starring Kevin Pollack and Illeana Douglas. He just finished starring in Campin Buddies, along with a role in the independent film Remember Isobel and the short film Duality. Steve Cooper talks with actor/musician Robert Romanus. Robert is an American film/television actor and musician. He is best known as ticket scalper Mike Damone in the 1982 comedy Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Natalie Green's boyfriend Snake on The Facts of Life. He starred in the 1983 series The Best of Times as Pete Falcone. He also starred in the 1985 film Bad Medicine. His other TV roles include Fame as Miltie Horowitz in 1986-1987, and two short-lived shows: the 21 Jump Street spin-off Booker as Tony DeAngelo in 1989, and as Jeff Foster in Maggie Winters in 1998. He has starred on soap operas such as Days of Our Lives as Marvin 'Speed' Selejko from 1983-1985, and The Young and the Restless as Lou in 2002. Steve Cooper talks with bassist Billy Sheehan. Billy started in his hometown of Buffalo, NY in the early ’70’s with the now legendary hard rock trio Talas, he went on to join David Lee Roth in the summer of ’85 when Dave quit Van Halen to go out on his own. Along with Steve Vai & Gregg Bissonette, the legendary Eat ‘Em and Smile record and tour went on to platinum status and sold out shows everywhere. Leaving in 1987 to start his own new band, he founded Mr. Big, who went on to achieve a number one hit in fourteen countries, staying number 1 in the USA BillBoard charts for 3 solid weeks. Along with Mr Big members Eric Martin, Paul Gilbert and Pat Torpey, they recorded and toured the world for a decade more, till disbanding in 2002. During that time he found time to start Niacin a fusion/blues trio based around the Hammond B3 sound that featured drummer Dennis Chambers. He rejoined his old bandmate Steve Vai for several tours as well as Steve’s Real Illusions record and tour. After he released several solo records and much more, Mr Big reunited in 2009 and performed a sold-out world tour, and then recorded What If… in 2011 to rave reviews and another sold-out world tour. Most recently he joined Mike Portnoy and Richie Kotzen to form The Winery Dogs. Steve Cooper talks with actor Judith Scott. Judith can be currently seen playing the role of Claudia Crane in FX's hit drama Snowfall which takes a look back to the early days of the crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles during the beginning of the 80s. She began her career as part of the legendary Second City improv troupe out of Chicago. Chip is best known for being one of the founders of Enuff Z'Nuff a Chicago area band that is best known for their charting singles Fly High Michelle and New Thing. Enuff Z'Nuff has continually recorded and toured throughout their career of more than 30 years, releasing 13 studio albums and a total of 21 CDs to date. They have appeared on MTV, The Jenny Jone's Show, Mancow's Morning Madhouse and multiple times on The Howard Stern Show and Late Night with David Letterman.

Steve Cooper talks with guitarist Michael Wilton. Michael is one of the founding members in 1982 of the band Queensryche. The band has released 14 studio albums, 1 EP, several DVDs and continues to tour and record. They have sold over 20 million albums worldwide, including over 6 million albums in the United States. The band received worldwide acclaim after the release of their 1988 album Operation: Mindcrime which is often considered one of the greatest heavy metal concept albums of all time. Their follow-up release Empire, released in 1990, was also very successful and included the hit single Silent Lucidity. The band has received three Grammy nominations for songs from both albums. His nickname is The Whip for how fast his fingers "whip" around the guitar fretboard and he also has his own beer called Whip Ale.

Steve Cooper talks with writer Bill Knoedelseder. Bill is best known for his book I'm Dying Up Here which recently was turned into a Showtime series. Bill was a staff writer from 1977 to 1989 reporting on the entertainment industry for the Los Angeles Times. His series of articles in the 1980s into corrupt practices in the record business formed the basis for the book Stiffed: A True Story of MCA, the Music Business and the Mafia. In 2012, his book Bitter Brew, which spans five generations of the Busch family and the foreign takeover of Anheuser-Busch made the New York Times Bestseller list and his latest book Fins: Harley Earl, the Rise of General Motors, and the Glory Days of Detroit is slated to come out in early 2018.

Steve Cooper talks with writer W. Bruce Cameron. W. Bruce is best known for his book the New York Times bestseller A Dog's Purpose. He is also the author of 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter (that became an ABC sitcom), The Dog Master, A Dog's Journey, The Midnight Plan of a Repo Man, Bailey's Story, Repo Madness and many others. In 2011 he was named Columnist of the Year by the National Society of Newspaper Columnists and recently wrote a book geared to school age kids.

Steve Cooper talks with singer Eric Martin. Eric is best known for being the front man for the band Mr. Big. Mr. Big was orginally together from 1988-2002 and recorded six albums. They had worldwide success playing sold out shows everywhere and had a huge hit with the single To Be With You. They recently re-united and just released a new cd titled Defying Gravity. Before, after and in between his career with Mr. Big he has recorded solo albums and been involved with many other bands including 415, Tak Matsumoto Group and Scrap Metal.

Steve Cooper talks with actor Rocky Laporte. Rocky has performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and appeared on A&E‘s Evening At The Improv and VH1‘s Stand-Up Spotlight, along with sitcom appearances on Cheers and his own NBC pilot called the Rocky LaPorte Show. He has become one of the most sought after comedians in the country, and appeared on on the season 8 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing! where he came in 5th place. He was a featured comic on Showtime‘s The Godfathers of Comedy, a special starring five of America’s most hilarious Italian-American comics and the big screen, he has been seen in two Tim Allen movies, Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog. He has also traveled to Iraq to entertain the troops, was seen on the Showtime special Patriot Act: A Jeffrey Ross Home Movie and has opened for the likes of Garry Shandling, Drew Carey, Tim Allen, Louie Anderson, Hootie and the Blowfish and the Righteous Brothers, just to name a few.

Steve Cooper talks with former NFL all-pro Kyle Turley. Kyle was selected 7th overall in the 1998 NFL Draft and played for 8 season. He played for the New Orleans Saints and a year with the St. Louis Rams before a serious back injury sidelined him for the 2004 and 2005 seasons. He returned to football in 2006 as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, where he spent the last two years of his career before announcing his retirement in December 2007. His high level of play earned him all-pro honors for the 2000 season and a Pro Bowl invite following the 2001 season. His career is best remembered by many for a 2001 incident in which he ripped off an opposing player's helmet and tossed it downfield, playing a key factor in his team losing the game but also earning the respect of many Saints fans for his defense of the quarterback. He has also been outspoken and involved in a number of player health issues post-retirement, particularly in regards to the neurological problems resulting from his football career.

Steve Cooper talks with singer/musician Mark Slaughter. Mark is one of the founders of the band Slaughter. They have sold more than 5 million records world-wide. The group has had numerous top hits on the Billboard charts such as Fly To The Angels, Up All Night, Spend My Life and Mad About You. They also won the 1991 American Music Award for Favorite New Artist. Mark recently released a solo album Halfway There and tours both solo and with the band.

Steve Cooper talks with bassist Mike Watt. Mike is best known for co-founding the rock bands Minutemen, Dos, and Firehose; was also the bassist for the reunited Stooges and a member of the group Banyon as well as many other post-Minutemen projects. CMJ New Music called him a seminal post-punk bassist and in 2008 he received the Bass Player Magazine lifetime achievement award, presented by Flea. He has also had a very successful solo career relasing many albums and touring the world, has written three rock operas and hosts a radio show called The Watt from Pedro Show.

Steve Cooper talks with singer/guitarist Janet Gardner. Janet is best-known as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the all-woman hard rock band Vixen. She recently recorded her first solo album that will be released this year. Her band Vixen signed with EMI and recorded their self-titled debut album which was released in September 1988. Their lead single Edge of a Broken Heart became their signature hit song. It was co-written, arranged, and produced by Richard Marx. They would go on worldwide tours in support of Ozzy Osbourne, Scorpions, and Bon Jovi along with their own headline shows. Vixen recorded and released their second album "Rev It Up" in July 1990. They toured for another year alongside KISS and Deep Purple before the band split up in the middle of 1991 citing musical differences. They have reformed with a different line-up in 1997 and recorded another album in 1998. They currently are back together and do occasional live dates.

Steve Cooper talks with guitarist Steve Lynch. Steve is best known for his work with the band Autograph. Steve has published several books and instructional videos on his guitar style throughout his career. He also works as a guitar teacher, teaching: the art of composition and his tapping technique. His band Autograph left an everlasting imprint on rock 'n' roll. The platinum-selling Southern California hard rock juggernauts gave the world the ubiquitous hit Turn Up the Radio, seminal albums such as Sign In Please [1984], That's The Stuff [1985], and Loud and Clear [1987] as well as unforgettable sold out shows alongside everybody from Mötley Crüe and Ronnie James Dio to Van Halen and Aerosmith. They disbanded in 1989 and got back together in 2011 and are touring again.

Steve Cooper talks with comic Jonathan Katz. Jonathan is best known for his Emmy and Peabody Award winning lead role in the animated hit series Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist. He has done Late Night with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson twice, Leno twice and Conan 7 times. He has had animated roles in many shows including Home Movies, Bob's Burgers, Adventure Time and Explosion Bus and has appeared in movies such as Daddy Day Care, State and Main, The Spanish Prisoner, Things Change and Are We Done Yet and also created Raisng Dad which aired on the WB network. He recently returned to his most popular character in Dr. Katz: The Audio Files which was just released on Amazon and the Audible channel.

Steve Cooper talks with musician Michael Sweet. Michael is best known for being the lead singer, guitarist and song writer for the popular band Stryper. Stryper was formed in 1983 as Roxx Regime, the band soon changed their musical message to reflect their Christian beliefs, and the band's name was also changed to Stryper. They went on to become the first overtly Christian heavy metal band to gain acceptance in the mainstream. In 1983, they signed with major label Enigma Record and released their debut album The Yellow and Black Attack. In the mid-1980s, Stryper enjoyed their most successful period beginning with the release of To Hell with the Devil, which achieved platinum sales status. Stryper went on to release two more gold albums before breaking up in 1992. In 2003, Stryper came out of retirement for a reunion tour and subsequently signed a multi-album contract with Big3 Records in 2005. In 2013 they signed a multi-album deal with Frontiers Records, and have released Second Coming, which includes 14 re-recorded songs from their first three albums and an album, No More Hell To Pay, released on November 5, 2013, and Fallen on October 16, 2015. He also was lead singer for the legendary band Boston for 4 years and has released 7 solo albums and is currently on tour.

As an actor he has appeared in over 70 TV programs and movies since the late 1980s. His first role was in Big Man on Campus. He has since held recurring roles in the series Murphy Brown, Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist, Suddenly Susan, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide and been a guest star on numerous shows. He can also be seen in the films Dumb and Dumber, Daddy Day Care, and Joe Dirt. He was a writer for one season of Seinfeld and appeared in an episode the following season and chronicled his life as a sitcom writer in his book My Seinfeld Year. He recently just released his 3rd book, Five Minutes to Kill: How the HBO Young Comedians Special Changed the Lives of 1989's Funniest Comics.
